Before I became a father I had read many blogs written by moms, mommy blogs. I didn’t notice that there were many blogs that were written by dads. Every book I read on fatherhood showed me that the images of fathers that we saw on TV were doing a disservice to dads.
Fathers had become the fall guy, the clown the negligent parent. Very few fathers on TV were much for role models. I knew that fatherhood would be the most important vocation of my life. I knew that I would be in it through whatever came my way and as a true partner to my wife.
When deciding a name for the blog I looked around at the books we had already amassed for my daughter. Reading has always been a big part of my life and I knew that I wanted to encourage my children to read in their lives. I also knew that reading to your child every day helps them immensely with language skills.
This blog is a resource for dads. Okay, and moms too. on this blog I’ll be reviewing products and services that I’ve found useful. I’ll also be reviewing books for my daughter’s library as well as those sent to me from publishers. With each review I will give you my honest opinion about each and every item. I hope you enjoy what I have to say and you actively participate in the comments and conversations on Read To Me, Dad.
